Our college successfully held the 14th Dam Type Design Competition

On November 28th, the final of the 14th dam design competition of Hohai University was successfully held on the Jiangning campus. Fang Kuo, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Song Ruiping, Deputy Library Director, Bao Tengfei, Assistant to the Dean and Director of the Office of Discipline and Talent Development, Cen Weijun, Director of the College of Hydraulic Structures, Zhou Jianxu, Director of the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, and Da Buyuan, Secretary of the Youth League Committee Attend the competition and serve as a judge.
Since the start of the competition in November, the competition has attracted 41 teams from nearly 300 people from various schools and departments, including hydropower, energy and electricity, power materials, agriculture and engineering, and College of Gun-Yu. After fierce competition in the preliminary round, 13 works finally entered the final.

Among the final works, there is the "Auspicious snow heralds a good year" dam, which is based on the Nanjing Sancha River estuary gate, and ingeniously combines the gravity dam with the sluice dam; there is a "Fish and I coexistence" that focuses on ecological protection and aims to provide convenience for fish. Dam; there is a "Wan Li Cheng Ze" dam that meets the needs of the times and takes into account agriculture, shipping, and nature; there is a structural innovation that can be used as a "Miao" dam for pumped storage power stations; there is a "starry dream" dam with dreamy design and clever functions; There are "Happy Mountains and Rivers" dams that integrate water conservancy construction and rural revitalization; there are "Di Zhu Zhong Liu，Yu Xing Wan Wu " dams that carry the meaning of myths and have a unique and exquisite appearance.
The dam model of the competition has novel structure and ingenious design. While ensuring practicality, it also pays full attention to a series of related functions such as tourism, irrigation, shipping, and power generation around the dam, making the complete water conservancy system more diverse.

The contestants presented their dam models through their defenses on the spot. After fully understanding the characteristics of each group of dam types, the judges lamented the students’ ingenious design and unique ideas, as well as the dam structure, professional design, and innovation. Put forward valuable opinions and suggestions for further improvement.

In the end, according to the judges’ on-site scoring situation, " Wan Li Cheng Ze" won the first prize, "Miao" and "Starry Dream" won the second prize, "Di Zhu Zhong Liu，Yu Xing Wan Wu ", "Happy Mountains and Rivers", and "Auspicious snow heralds a good year" awarded Third Place.
